Goalies

4 Simple Steps

Simple but not necessarily easy

The  key to great goaltending is the be in the right place at the right time, followed by making a save, followed by controlling the puck.  The extent to which this can be accomplished will determinre your ability to control the play.

In order to obtain this result consistently we break it down into several areas.  First the goalie has to get to the right place. Second, the goalie has to know where the right place is, and must figure this out ahead of time. Due to the extremely short time the goalie has to work with in a typical game situation, this process must be practically automatic which takes time to internalize..

While both the younger goalie and the more advanced goalie benefits tremendously, the learning curve will be different, for different reasons.  The younger goalie will need time to learn and comprehend, whereas the more advanced goalie has to break old habits to put new ones in place. Yet once retained, both can build upon this foundation year after year after year.
